It’s been said that it’s better to give than to receive. Both James Dondero and Highland Capital Management appear to agree with this statement. Dondero has teamed up with Dallas civic leader Linda Owen to give advice and direction to Highland Capitals philanthropic efforts, something that is quite important to the company.

As part of this union, Owen will now serve as the company’s charitable giving manager. Highland has recognized the need to have some being committed full time to make sure their contributions are put in the best place. The company regularly contributes more than three million dollars to charitable organizations. Highland’s commitment to philanthropy is refreshing.

James Dondero provides guidance to many of the organizations that Highland supports. Co-founder and president of Highland Capital Management, Dondero has more than 30 years of experience that make him an excellent candidate to advise Highland. He also works as Chairman of Cornerstone Healthcare and is a member of American Banknote and MGM Studios.

Dondero’s experience dates back way before his days with Highland. Prior to Dondero worked as Chief Investment Officer for Protective Life. The company grew to having over two billion dollars in assets under Dondero’s management. Furthermore, in the late 1980’s as the Portfolio Manager at American Express. His various jobs prove he is more than qualified for his new position with Highland. His educational track includes an honors degree from the University of Virginia. He also has two degrees from the University of Virginia in accounting and finance. The knowledge he has acquired through his schooling and experience make him an excellent choice to help Highland with their philanthropic efforts.
