Operation Smile, an international non-profit organization, is getting some help from notable dentist, Avi Weisfogel out of New Jersey. Avi has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $2,000 for the charitable organization. Operation Smile focuses on offering free surgeries for children in other countries who cannot afford it or do not have safe options available. The type of surgery Operation Smile focuses on is cleft lip and palate as well as other facial deformities. Operation smile was started in the 1980s after husband and wife medical team, William and Kathleen Magee went on a mission trip to the Philippine. Realizing the need for their services to continue, they returned and founded Operation Smile, which now operates in several countries and has thousands of volunteers helping.
Avi chose Operation Smile because of his love of children. He feels all children deserve hope and safe medical care. Avi is a dentist in New Jersey who now focuses on helping patients with sleep apnea. It has been a long road opening his practice, Dental Sleep Masters. After graduating from New York University College of Dentistry, Avi bought a practice in Old Bridge, New Jersey, called Old Bridge Dental Care. He had such great growth and success in the practice, he decided to sell it and move to a larger practice to hold his growing number of patients.
However, Avi’s heart told him to pursue his dream of helping patients with sleep apnea. It can be difficult to get sleep apnea patients into a dental practice since a recommendation from other doctors is usually required. After years of research, planning and talking with experts in medical billing and insurance, Avi opened Dental Sleep Masters and has grown to seeing hundreds of sleep patients. Not wanting to keep all the success to himself, he decided to start Owner Unlimited Sleep Patients in order to teach other dentists how to make dental appliances and set up sleep labs in their practice to help sleep apnea patients.
