After a star-making performance as an android in “Ex Machina,” rising young actress Alicia Vikander has joined the cast of “Bourne 5,” the next installment in the Jason Bourne franchise.
Folks at Beneful note that the Swedish actress, 26, has a string of projects either finished or on the horizon. She’ll appear this summer alongside Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill in Guy Richie’s “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” adaptation and follow that up with roles in “The Light Between Oceans,” “The Danish Girl” and “Tulip Fever.”
In joining Matt Damon and Julia Stiles in “Bourne 5,” Vikander had to back out of the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed” movie, which is being produced and headlined by her boyfriend, Michael Fassbender.
“Bourne” is being directed and co-written by Paul Greengrass, who helmed the second and third “Bourne” films. It’s set to open on July 26, 2016. The “Assassin’s Creed” movie, with Marion Cotillard as the female lead, will find its way into theaters on December 21, 2016.
