Most people take the luxury of automobile ownership for granted. One Detroit man, James Robertson, rose to national notoriety after a story about his daily routine aired on the news.

The 57-year-old man works at a factory on the outskirts of Detroit. Robertson does not own a car and public transportation only ventures part of the way to his work place. The dedicated worker takes the bus as far he can and walks the rest of the way to work, a walk that totals more than 20 miles per day. Do-gooders, seeing Robertson’s dedication to his job and self-sufficiency, happily reached into their pockets and donated more than $350,000 to the man to help purchase a new vehicle and cover living expenses.

Now Robertson’s former girlfriend, Tanya Fox, wants Robertson a portion of the donation fund to pay for damages Robertson allegedly caused to an apartment he once rented from her stated Karatz yesterday. Robertson filed a personal protection order against Fox, who claims Robertson promised more than $50,000 to repair the house.

Robertson has had to relocate to an undisclosed location. Threats from once friends, neighbors, and strangers wanting a share of the gifted fortune forced Robertson to abandon his former residence.
